We are a small non-profit orginization. A previous user had Aldus PageMaker 5.0a that she loved and did everything in.

Anyway, we have about 5 .pm5 files which are our floor plan, and fire alarm system diagrams. The only bad thing is we no longer have Aldus PageMaker, or any program which can open this "maps"..... plus with us being a non-profit, we can not afford to purchase any new version of Adobe PageMaker.

So does anyone know where we could convert these .pm5 files to something like .jpg, .gif, Visio, or some other image program cheaply (Free)?

Hi, macoan,

PM is page layout software, and the penultimate stage before actual publishing.

To open and edit a PM file you need PageMaker. You may be able to find someone who can do it for you.

Another option is to download the time-limited version of PM7 from Adobe which will open PM5 files.

You will need Acrobat Distiller (not included in the demo) to create a PDF of your PM5 files, which can then either be used as is or can be converted into an image (TIFF for example) using Photoshop.

The problems you are likely to encounter opening the PM5 in PM7 are missing fonts and/or original image files.
