Hello everyone,

I need to export xml from a Greek document that is written in pfb (PS Type 1) font. I'm working on a Windows PC. Although it displays OK in InDesign, every export I get is garbage. Is there some way to convert the text to a different font (True Type or something else) and have the export display correctly? Can I somehow strip font information from the document and have a plain text export?

Thanks

All versions of MS Word from '95 onwards will do it for you.
If you have Word 2003:
1) Export your text from InDesign as 'Text Only.
2) Lauch Word and before you open your file, go to Tools->Options - 'General' and make sure that 'Confirm conversion at Open' is checked.
3) Use File->Open to open your Greek text file and select 'Ecoded Text' when you see the 'Convert File' dialog box.
4) Next, you'll get another dialog box. Select 'Other encoding:' and scroll up until you find 'Greek(Widnows)'

That should do the trick!

If you have Word 2007, 'Confirm file format conversion on open' is hidden in Word Options -> Advanced.
