convert firebird to mssql ??

Can anyone here point me in the right direction for gathering information on doing this? Advantages/disadvantages/issues/howto's?

There is plenty of documentation doing it the reverse way, but what about going Firebird(IB6)-->MSSQL?

Well, my boss thinks he might want to migrate (you know bosses, their reasons are purely political, he is not even an IT expert) [soapbox]

He is less keen now that i have pointed out the huge cost difference for licenses, but ultimately i think he wants to narrow down the Development tools we are using (he thinks having 4 languages and 4 DBMS's between 4 developers makes us a patchwork company and not proffessionally specialising in one - ie M$) [sadeyes]

So, really what i am looking for is some kind of comparison of the two Db's.

Ever had any hard locking issues with MSSQL? Well, you won't get them with Firebird.

Ever done BEFORE <action> triggers with MSSQL? Nope, you can't! But you can with Firebird.

CHECK constraints with sub-queries? Not in MSSQL, but yes, available in Firebird.

Clear and logical organized Stored Procedure language: Firebird.

Updateable views: Firebird.

On the other hand, MS SQL Enterprise comes with replication, a large collection of external functions (including DCOM stuff), SQL Mail and a SQL Server Agent.

In short: it all boils down to what you want... :)

I found a great white-paper that does an in-depth comparison, so i will weed my way through that. It certainly looks like i will have MANY good arguments to keep Firebird!
