This will be frowned upon i'm quite sure because it's a complete hack of a solution but none the less, it does work.
I recently had a need to create an introduction for a website i was producing. I know Director pretty well but Flash is an unknown to me. After a lot of researching and help from yourselves i found it impossible to convert Director projects to Flash files, but then i came across the answer...at least if you're producing a project like an intro animation or similar.
I made my project in Director and then published it. Then, using a program called Camtasia Studio, i recorded my animation directly as a screen capture. Camtasia Studio then offers the option of saving the movie file as a Flash .swf file.
My particular problem at least was solved.
