I have a report written with one MS Access table and one Macola table. Both are native connections. I tried to convert the database driver of the Macola table so it would use and ODBC data source rather than a direct conncection, and CR V8.5 tried to convert BOTH database drivers. The MS Access driver, obviously, cannot use the same driver as the Macola Table.

Is there a way to change the database driver of only certain tables in your report, and not the whole report? Maybe this is being addressed in V9? Ideas? Software Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

There is software named recrystalize.I think this software allows you perform this operation via ASP (it produces the ASP) syntax. You can find this software by search engines. But unfortunately the trial version doesn't allow you to do this. The registered version solves your problem. Salih Sipahi

Don,

A CR Report uses one Db driver to access all tables. If you need another DB technology, you need a subreport.

But you can also use something like MS-Access to create linked tables to your macola data. Then all you need is Access drivers (native or ODBC). A bit of aperformance hit, but it does work. Editor and Publisher of Crystal Clear

Bruce,

I have successfully mixed database types on Crystal Reports many times, most often with Macola and MS Access, but also with other types of files. When you add the tables individually to teh report they can be different DSNs and different drivers. I have never had to use a subreport to do this.

Linking can be a problem, or so the warning screens that pop up tell me, but I have never experienced this problem. There appeas to be an all-or-nothing limitation on what I can do in terms of converting database drivers.

The MS Access link-table approach seems to be a good workaround. I will try that. Software Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

I also mix drivers in many reports, but I don't think there is a way to convert the driver of only one table. However, you can do something similar with a 'set location' for one table. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

Ken,

Does the "set location" actually change the driver? I need to change one Macola table from a Btrieve driver to an ODBC driver, and leave the MS Access table alone. Software Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

If you set the location of the table to an existing ODBC data source, I would think it would have to change the driver. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting
