So far I've open Adobe Acrobat and had a 5 minute scroll through the menus etc. It's used to convert files to pdf's, but can files be "Changed back" to their original format for editing? I note that minor editing can be done in A A , but I want to add a column to a table, change the row and column widths, change the page orientation etc. I don't have the original document but I really like the pdf format.

In short, can I convert the pdf to it's original form, edit it, then reconvert back to pdf?

Thanks

By the way, I'm not "stealing" a document...It's part of a report I've inherited at work and need to update.

Acrobat 6 introduced limited functionality that allows you to save a PDF as another format (eg MS Word), & this ability has been improved in V7. If you have one of these versions, you just need to select File > Save As & select the format you wish to save as.

Unfortunately this isn't always perfect, & the results will depend on the document you are converting. If you have complex tables you may be out of luck, & if the document contains a combination of text & images (especially borders) it may struggle.

I wouldn't recommend this as a standard way of dealing with PDFs - when you create a PDF, always keep the original document. However, for those times when you don't have the original this is better than nothing.

Good luck.
