Is there a utility to convert ASCII to .dbf format? I need something to run in batch mode. There is tons of tools that convert .dbf files to other formats but not the other way round.. Thanks!

See the APPEND FROM command. Or do you not have the dBase program itself?

No, I do not have the dbase program. I need to transmit a file that must be in dbase format.

You can open the .txt file in Excel, then Save As a .dbf file (a number of versions). I'm no expert at MS Office automation, but I believe there are ways to automate something like this. Posting in the Excel forum might get you some help on that part - i.e something you could trigger from a batch file.

Your text file should be delimited with something like comma. This will enable you to open txt file in EXCEL and get values into separate columns. Then you can try and save excel table in DBF format, should work fine. Only thing i don't know is what would the names of columns be in saved dbase file (e.g. structure).

The columns in the created .dbf will by default be named using the contents of the first row of the Excel columns.
