Is there a way to convert an application developed with ABC templates to Legacy templates.

If yes, what are the things to be taken care of when doing the conversion.

Thanks.

Update: the ABC template application is in Clarion 6.1 and the converted Legacy application has to be in Clarion 6.1 as well.

Thanks

Hi Sachin,

Why do you want to do that? ABC is the future. There are more templates and developments in ABC as compared to Legacy. So think twice.

There is no utility to convert ABC to Legacy. Also, template prompts in Legacy are maybe different that ABC and hence may not be transfered correctly. Embeds can be tranfered in the ABC application by enabling Legacy embeds in the Embeditor and transfering the ABC embeds to the legacy embed points. All the remaining needs to be done on the TXA file created. It's not an easy task and you need to have a good knowledge of the templates.

Regards

Hi Shankar,

The reason for converting is that I'm not very familiar working with ABC Templates.

Hi Sachin,

Yes, there is a learning curve. But it is worth it. Because the best option to convert ABC to Legacy is to redo it in Legacy and copy all the embeds. It there are many procedures, it is not worth it. Tell me where you are stuck and maybe I will try to help. There is a LearnABC.pdf guide for the transition from Legacy to ABC installed as part of Clarion 5. If you do not have it, post your e-mail address and I will e-mail that to you.

Regards

Hi Shankar,

Please send me that file on sachinkgandhi@yahoo.ca

There are few APPS that I need to convert from ABC to Legacy and there are not many procedures.

I still have to analyze whether to continue with ABC by learning it or convert it to Legacy.

Thanks.
