convert a prg made with different codepage

Hi,

I have received a (russian)vfp program aparently made with a different codepage. It works fine but I cant read the explaining text nor the buttoncaptions, gridheader.captions e.s.o. They all show gibllish. To understand how the progamm works I need to read these. How would I be able to transfer these texts' into readable wording.

If you are sure the text uses the Russian codepage, open the PRG with the AS clause:

MODIFY COMMAND SomeProgram AS 1251

Then, go to File / Save As, and click the Code Page button. Select the code page you want (probably 1252), the proceed to save the file under a new name.

That should get rid of the "gibllish" (nice word, by the way). Of course, it doesn't mean that the text will make any sense, but at least you should see recognisable characters.

Sorry,
no effect, google tools, does not give an option to re-code a vfp.prg and the solution of Mike, does not result in any effect, the file seems to stay in the same way. I believe my only option is to contact the author and see if he hasd made a codepage 1252 version of his work.

The author promised to create a library and translate after he would have time (after vacation). But you may contact him just in case too.
