I have seen a Crystal Job advertised that I would like to apply for. This is the advert spec - My client requires an experienced Crystal Reports Developer with the ability to create and edit Crystal Reports. Must have conversion experience version 6 to 8 and a good understanding of Informix Connectivity and ODBC connectivity as well as Installshield experience. Work involves migrating the current Crystal Reports from version 6 to a Windows 2000 compatible version. Some advice on Crystal security issues will be required.

I won't have any problem with conversion from 6 - 8 as we have been through that process at work, however I am not so sure about the other bits. Can anyone give me any hints and tips on Connectivity, Installshield and any security issues I might need to know about. I am more than willing to read up on the web or buy a book to help me find these things out if anyone can point me in the right direction for good resources.

Thanks for any help in advance. Learn something new every day *:->*

Sounds like they're dressing it up a bit!
The only problems I've heard of with Informix are to do with its weird treatment of long text - you should be able to find plenty in the Crystal Decisions knowledge base.

ODBC is pretty much the same no matter what you're using. It really depends on which driver they're using so you can't prep for that much.

I've used Installshield a couple of times (I prefer Wise), it's pretty straight forward and there are downloads for it for the Crystal run time.

I'm sure there'll be plenty of posts here shortly! Andrew Baines
