Just thinking of deploying Converged Office and I am told by our vendor that the cost per user for Converged Office is about $56.00. If the user has an IP or digital set, then the calls are routed through that device.

That's fine...but what if the user just wants to use Converged Office using a USB headset on his PC: do I need to configure an IP set (on our CS1000) and use an IP licence to do so?

Any other comments re Converged Office would be appreciated.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

The converged office licenses you’re talking about are different from the phone licenses.

You need a SIP access license to talk from the PBX to OCS/LCS. This is a pulled resource not a per user licenses.

If you want to have PC and phone then you need an AST and PCA license. If you don't want to marry the phone and the PC then you don't need these but you won't get presense information.

The phone license is a lot more then $56 or an IP Phone license. All your vendor is doing is giving you a per user reference. They are taking all the above licenses and dividing it by the amount of users to make it sound more appealing.

What you need to think about is what your users do if OCS/LCS is down. Now you don’t have a phone to use. Maybe not big deal to you but you have to ask yourself the question. We are talking about MS now.
