I have recently taken over a sendmail setup that is running 8.13.8. The issue I am having is the server is being used for backscatter. I don'y know the best way to control or stop this. I looked at my Privacy Flags and thought possibly I could stop NDR's but that will affect legitimate email as well.

Has anyone tackled this problem? If so what steps did you take?

Also another item I just wanted to throw out. What is the best way to control brute force attacks against this same server? I get quite a few compromised accounts a week. Is there anything in sendmail and openwebmail to help control this?

If anyone needs anymore information on my setup please let me know. I would appreciate and advice or thoughts.

Thanks
