We are running an Option 11C release 24.24 - currently we have 2 - Model 2616 phones that have a "Key" Programmed for Controlled COS - giving them the ability to turn on or off an Analog Phone (have about 120 of these). This is normally done in the business office which isn't open on the weekends when we have new people show up or people leave. Is there a way to do this via an interface (kind of what the hotels use)?

Thank You

ONLY OTHER WAY IS TO CHANGE THE NCOS THROUGH LD 10 OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

I guess I wasn't clear enough in my first post. The NCOS on the phone is fine; I don't need to change that. I need to have the ability to turn a phone "ON" (ability to make calls)or "OFF"(where they can receive, but not make calls). Currently this is done from a seperate phone (model 2616; which has a "Controlled COS" button programmed allowing them to turn a phone on or off).

I mentioned the hotel environment (when you check-in they can turn your phone on from their terminal); because these individuals are charged for the phone usage.

Thank You

Controlled Class of Service (CCOS) alters the Class of Service restriction levels on telephones that have been defined as CCOS controlled telephones. While CCOS is active, Exchange line calls made from these telephones cannot be completed without first being routed through an attendant. Meridian 1 proprietary telephones designated as CCOS controlling telephones are assigned a CCOS key that is used to activate or cancel the system-defined CCOS restriction level on individual DNs.

Operating parameters

Controlling telephones can be any Meridian 1 proprietary (digital) telephone. CCOS controlling telephones must refer to the Prime Directory Number key 0(PDN) when activating or cancelling CCOS on other telephones. Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) agents cannot be restricted by CCOS.

Enhanced Controlled Class Of Service

There is an enhancement to this service Known as Controlled Class of Service Enhanced (ECCS). This allows some flexibility in the restrictions you can apply to controlled sets. By responding to an additional set of prompts in LD 15 (ECCS1 and ECCS2) two different restriction levels can be configured. If your System is equipped to use ECCS the Operators console can also be set up to implement the Controlled Class Of Service facility

Feature implementation

ECC2 xxx Enhanced Controlled Class of Service, Level 2 xxx = (UNR), CTD, CUN, FRE, FR1, FR2, SRE, TLD.

These restrictions apply only when CCSA is active. When CCSA is inactive, the telephone reverts back to its own individual settings

As was mentioned above, with ECCS, the operator console can be configured to control this facility.

LD 12

Feature operation

To activate Enhanced Controlled Class of Service (ECCS) from a Meridian digital telephone with the feature currently inactive, follow these steps:
1 Press CCOS to begin the activation sequence.
Note that this is a toggle: if CCOS is already active, pressing the key will change the CCOS state to inactive. Check the CCOS lamp to determine if CCOS is already active.
2 Dial the PDN of the telephone to be changed and press CCOS. The controlling telephone’s display, if equipped, shows the DN of the changed telephone and a 0 (zero).
3 To select ECC1, dial # 1.
Note that the octothorpe (#) is required. The controlling telephone’s display, if equipped, shows the DN of the changed telephone and a 1.

To select ECC2, dial # 2.
Note that the octothorpe (#) is required. The controlling telephone’s display, if equipped, shows the DN of the changed telephone and a 2.

4 Press RLS.

Off hand I would say there is No way to change a phone except with the Controller Phone, but you could use Auth Codes to override CCOS

Features and Services
Feature description
Controlled Class of Service (CCOS) alters the Class of Service restriction
levels on telephones that have been defined as CCOS controlling telephones.
This applies to Meridian 1 proprietary telephone users designated as CCOS
controllers. While CCOS is active, Public Exchange/Central Office or toll
calls made from these telephones cannot be completed without first being
routed through an attendant.
Meridian 1 proprietary telephones designated as CCOS controlling
telephones are assigned a CCOS key/lamp that is used to activate or cancel
the system-defined CCOS restriction level on individual DNs.
Operating parameters
Controlling telephones can be any Meridian 1 proprietary telephone.
Controlled Class of Service
CCOS controlling telephones must refer to the Prime Directory Number
(PDN) when activating or canceling CCOS on other telephones.
Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) agents cannot be restricted by CCOS.
Feature interactions
Authorization Code
The Authorization Code overrides a telephone’s CCOS restriction level.

If what you want is to do this unattended in weekends or when nobody is present to do it (if I got u right) you could use a comm program (procomm, telix, qmodem) in a pc and make an autoload script (ej. telix turnoff.scr) and add it to a scheduler program, like the one in Windows 9x, to run at specified times, this way You can make several other tasks on Your PBX.

It would be easier and safer to just put a controller phone out for the weekend manager to use then to allow a newbie to login to the PBX and make changes

You can do this through the background terminal

You need to have BDG under usr data for the tty you intend to use

From the . promt without logging in you would type:
to check in - .se st xxxx ch
to check out - .se st xxxx ch ou
to change class of service - .se st xxxx co of
or - .se st xxxx co on

Dialogic makes a card (d42/4jct) that emulates a 2616 phone.
You could create a vb or c or vos program with a user interface that could 'press' a button on a 2616 and change the cos.

Not simple but very cool.
