Has anyone ever got control pings to work on a Contivity 100? I have a unit with an ISDN interface and I'm trying to get some regular activity on the ISDN I/F to keep it alive.

If setup a control ping that gets sent to an external address every 30 seconds with ISDN as the conrtolled I/F and the source as "none". The ISDN still drops out every so often.

If I change the above ping settings so the source interface is eth2 the ISDN link drops and redials every 30 seconds!!

Anyone with any clues would be a friend for life!! [bigsmile]

Thanks!

Hi

I don't have any numbers, but the Contivity may see repeated pings from a consistent source as an attempted denial-of-service attack. It will count the pings, and at its threshold will drop the line as a defence against DoS, and then redial if it gets traffic that requires the line to be up.
