Control panel hangs

When I try to access control panel from the start button, nothing happens for almost a minute. following that, everything works as normal

try reinstalling windows

it might helpful

this i faced the same problem.

Is it only Control Panel which is slow to open? Or are other menus and folders slow too. If so, a disk cleanup and defrag could be helpful in speeding things up. Don't reinstall Windows over something like that. Please post more information.

Thanks for the suggestions. It is only control panel which appears to have this problem. I was considering removing all CPL files and reinstating them individually except MAIN. but I think this would only work if I was unable to access control panel rather than restore access time to an acceptable level. What do you think?
