I have a Client who upgraded to an HP LJ4345. We control the font selection by using escape codes in our application. This printer's output in compressed mode has noticeably smaller characters than it's predecessor. I've tried several internal fonts to no avail. Is there a way to over-ride the automatic character height controlon a scalable font? If not, anybody know the escape sequence for a "non-scalable" font?

Example sequence:
(esc)&l0o2a6D(esc)(10U(esc)sp16.66h8.5vsb3T
I've changed the 8.5v value but it appears to be ignored.

try...

<esc>s0p16.67h0s0b4102T

Letter Gothic has a taller aspect ratio and might be what you were getting before.

That's exactly what I needed. I had already tried about a dozen other fonts without noticeable improvement. Letter Gothic looks much better in compressed form.

Thanks much!
