Control Datasheet Formatting

I have two datasheet formatting questions.

1. Is there a way to make a single column of a datasheet bold (or change font, etc.)?

One workaround I've thought of is to change the subform to Form view and redesign the form into a single row, which would give me complete control over everything. I'd prefer to leave it in datasheet view if I could.

2. Is there a way to force alternating background colors on the rows of a datasheet?

Have you considered a continuous form?
