Hi,

I am using Adobe Illustrator CS3 and i am trying to take an outline of and image and adjust the line thickness at certain parts of the line. When i try and adjust the stroke at a certain part it adjusts the stroke for the entire outline.

Ex. At the top of the line the stroke thinner, and in the shadows the stroke becomes thicker.

I hope this is descriptive enough!

Thanks

The ability to do this was added to CS5. In prior versions you have to Object > Path > Outline Stroke and manipulate the resulting points. I've found that a quick and dirty solution is to remove fill colors, convert to outlines and unite, ungroup and release compound paths on the result, then re-color and scale the inner shape in a way that creates the appearance of an irregular stroke.
