I am running contivity client v04_65.14 on a windows 2000 box which in turn connects to a contivity 1600 running ver 04_06.120. When i connect i get the error message

'Rip listener enabled which may disconnect CVC client sometime later. PLease disable RIP listener to maintain tunnel connection'. If you press ok then the tunnel is established and everyhting is ok. I am not sure why this message is comming up as we have other user that do not get this message.

Has anyone seen this before.

Regards

James

If a user under Windows 2000 or Windows XP installs the "RIP Listener" service protocol and uses CES Client 3.7 or higher; the user will be unable to establish a constant VPN session if the user's local (private) network is advertising routes via RIPv1. Upon receipt of a RIPv1 route advertisement, the PC's local routing table is modified and the VPN tunnel is torn down as a result (security precaution). You can remedy this by turning off the RIP Listener service on XP or 2000.
"RIP Listener" is installed under Add/Remove Programs - Windows Component Wizard - Networking Services
"RIP Listener" can be disabled under Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services - RIP Listener --> Manual or Disable.
