I don't really think this is a contivity issue. Its more likely DNS. Here is what's happening. User A with machine name of computer logs onto the network via NIC cable and gets IP address of 10.10.10.1. User then goes home and logs into the VPN getting IP address 10.10.11.1. Now when someone tries to reach user a's machine using computer name (computer) it is resolving to 10.10.10.1 and not the current IP of 10.10.11.1. The machine is accessible using the IP address, but not the machine name. It's almost like the DNS is holding onto the old entry. This doens't happen when moving from vlan to vlan just when going from on site to remote netowrk access. Users are getting IP assignment from DHCP server that contivity is pointing to. DNS servers are defined in the proper contivity group. Any ideas on what could be causing this? DNS? VPN?

That's a good one! Do you get the wierd stuff dumped on you
since you're the "new guy" ?

That about sums it up Rick. That and anything that has to do with calling Nortel. Before I came on board our security guy was doing both security and all the network stuff so he is more than happy to pass the network on to me.

I did figure out the DNS issue. Our domain name was not defined in the group --> ipsec settings. Once I put added that no problems!
