I am trying to copy the configuration from a Contvity 2600 to a Contivity 600. Is there an easy way to do this via a file copy of some sort?

Thanks.

From the Extranet Switch
1. Go to Servers>LDAP and click the “Stop Server” button.
2. Enter the filename (i.e. backup.ldf) for the backup in the “Backup to File” field and then click “Backup Now”.
3. (optional) Go to Status> Event Log. Continuously refresh the log until the message “Backup complete to...” appears.
4. Go to Servers>LDAP and click the “Start Server” button.

The backup could be fairly quick or take a little time depending on the size/amount of information in the LDAP server. (Ours here with a very small number of users around 12 - is almost instantaneous!)

To check if the backup of the LDAP Server worked you can do the following:
* FTP to the Management IP of the Contivity Switch.
* CD to /system/slapd/ldif
* Type dir
* Type bin
* Type get [filename.ldf] filename is whatever you named the file in step 2. (don’t use brackets)
* Type quit to exit FTP and return to the C prompt.
* From C prompt type edit [filename.ldf] and you can now look at the file and make sure it has info in it.

5. Go to Admin>Config. Enter a name (i.e. config.bak) for the configuration file and click “Save”.

How to Restore to a different Contivity

a. First you must retrieve the config and LDAP off of the original box. To do this, from a DOS prompt, ftp to the management IP and browse to the system/slapd/ldif directory and “get”, using bin option, the backed up LDAP file [filename.ldf] where filename is the name you gave in step 2.

b. Then go to the system/config directory and retrieve namexxxx.cfg, where namexxxx.cfg is the latest numerical listing. (When you backup the config, it is saved as a namexxxx.cfg file in the file system. So if this is your first manual saved config it will be listed as name0001.cfg in the file system. To verify that it is the correct config file, you can open it up and view the last line. It should state something to the affect of Name=xxxxxxx, where xxxxxxx is the name of the file you gave in the GUI)

c. In DOS, change to the directory that contains your backup of your config and LDAP

d. FTP to the management IP of the second Contivity .

e. for the LDAP change to the system/slapd/ldif directory and, using the bin option, “put” the LDAP file in the directory

f. for the config change to the system/config and, using the bin option, “put” the namexxxx.cfg file in the directory.

g. In the GUI go to Servers>LDAP and click the drop-down list box and select the file you just put on the box. Click Restore Now.

h. In the GUI go to Admin>Shutdown and under Boot Configuration choose the config file you just uploaded to the box. Note that it will be listed as the named file you save earlier on the first contivity
