Hi all!

I have a contivity 1750 and I would like to connect this box to my existing network for secure internet connection..I am also planning to set up a tunnel but it is like the second step for me...internet connection for my network users over the contivity is my first concern.

they gave me an IP address for the internet gateway which ends with .245 and told me to set my interface for .246 statically with a mask of 255.255.255.252

I have been trying to configure this contivity box for a while now and I am really stuck. Here is what I have done so far:

I have 2 ports on contivity. One for public and one for private network. I set the public interface with the IP .246 and set a public default route towards .245 gateway.

I also set my private interface on contivity and I have no problems with that interface because from contivity box I can ping inside my network...

I set the interface filters on contivity to permit all for now..
I set my default public and private routes on contivity
( I set the .245 address as the default public gateway on contivity)
The problem is that I can't ping the internet gateway (.245) from my contivity box...when I go to the CLI of the ocntivity and type "show arp" I can see the MAC of the gateway (.245)+ I have the default entry for the public routes in my routing table in contivity + I have my .246 interface IP address in my routing table in the contivity.

What am I missing here???

ps: internet connection is fine. I plugged it into my computer and it was working all fine + I could ping the .245 gateway from my PC..

thanks in advance,

I don't understand, did you say the internal hosts can ping the gateway behind the Contivity? Or only when directly plugged into the modem?

You may have set the filters to permit all, but have you enabled the firewall/filters globally?

Go to services > firewall/NAT and enable the firewall and check Interface filters. This requires a reboot.

peace
