I have users on the Contivity 1010 when their PC crashes or are force to reboot abnormally, the contivity thinks the users is still connected. I have to go in the router and disconnect the user to allow them to reconnect. Are there any settings on the router that I can enable to verify if connection is still up and drop it if it isn't so the user can re-connect successfully?

Thanks.

Which version is still running ???? Do you use the nortel vpn client ???

Yes, using the Nortel VPN client version 501. Is there any setting on the router that will check to see if the checking is still active and drop it if it isn't? Can't seem to find one.

It sounds like you need to enable Initial Contact Payload.

I think I should have been more clear here. Enabling Initial Contact Payload on the Contivity basically means that if a user tries to set up a client tunnel and the Contivity finds that the user already has a tunnel established, it tears down the first tunnel and allows the user to set up the new one.

Where is that option located?

Sorry - it's been a little while since I signed on. The Enable Initial Contact Payload option is in the IPSEC settings for the particular group your user is located in.
