Using Access 2003, I have a continuous form with one detail line. When the form is displayed and one clicks on any given line, the data for that line becomes invisible until another line is clicked into and then the newly clicked line becomes invisible.

I've tried all combinations of locking and enabling the fields but nothing has worked.

Also, it doesn't seem to matter if I display record selectors or not.

I need to display this as a form and not a report because I have actionable command buttons on the line. (The button also disappears!)

The database was originally saved as Access 2000 and I converted it to Access 2002-2003. The same thing happened in both formats.

Any suggestions as to why this happens?

Remou,

I copied the data tables and modules into another working DB then did a copy & paste to a new form. The results were the same. :-(

Can you describe any conditional formatting that you have and any calculated controls?

I have an Unbound text box in the background of the detail section that changes from white to gray based on the ordinal number of the line. That is to say, on all odd lines the background is white and on all even lines the background is light gray. The ordinal number is part of the record and the conditional statement is [Num] Mod 2 = 0 which changes the fill color to light gray.

The displayed form then appears striped horizontally. There are no other calculated controls.

Upon removal of that Unbound text box, the problem goes away. How else can I achieve the striped appearance? (Client's prerogative.)

Good news is that access 2007 provides this capability natively, bad news you are on 2003. But that is what I figured the problem was. Try what Duane suggests but I am not sure if that will fix it. I think this is a limitation of Access when doing conditional formatting. There are other issues including flicker and crashes that can occur using conditional formatting on calculated controls. Out of curiosity if you move the background textbox so it is just above or below the other textboxes, does this still happen?

Hot Dang! dhookom

That did the trick! Why didn't I think of that? I had moved the control to the back, but the tab stop option was the culprit all along.

Thanks a Googleplex. And a star for you!

Also Make sure with 2003 that you have service Pack 2 installed. That will solve any flicker issues with calculated controls.
