Contents of E-Mail becomes unreadable

When receiving external e-mail, the last part of some messages are replaced with xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx all the way to the end. Normally the first part of the mail is readable.
This happens in e-mails that contain just text, and mails that contain text and attachments.

Anyone shed any light?

I would check your mail client to make sure it supports emails in html/rich text format. then i would probably delete your inbox as it may be corrupt.
