I'll make some guesses, you can tell me if I'm right.
You're using Word.
It's version 2000.
You created forms using form fields and it's protected.
And now you'd like to hyperlink.
And you can't hyperlink in a protected document.
My workaround:
Insert a bookmark, even if it is to a simple period character that is sized to 1pt white text so it never shows. Name the bookmark with the name of the form without spaces.
Now, record macros that do Edit-Go to-Bookmark. See how to record macros:
Kind of, I am usign Word 2000 but essentially all I want to do is enable users of the document to click on a heading in the contents and be taken to the corresponding page.
The problem is the page itself doesn't have the heading shown in the contents, and there's the problem. Linking the title in the contents to a specific page.
The document isn't protected and I haven't used form fields, but I will give your idea a go, thanks Dreamboat.
Well, if the document isn't protected, you can insert a bookmark at the location you want them to go to and Insert-Hyperlink to go to that location. It's simple to do:
1. Go to the location where you want them to be taken when the click the text in the contents area.
2. Hit Insert-Bookmark, and give it a one-word name.
3. Select the text that you want them to click on in the contents.
4. Hit Insert-Hyperlink, and choose Bookmark, then choose the name of the bookmark.
Do this for each item you want them to *travel* to.
