I like the way contact sheet takes the thumnails and spaces them evenly and quickly. Problem is I want to name them like (Page 1, Page 2, etc) so that I can use the contact sheet as a catalog index. If I rename the files photoshop won't allow spaces, plus if you dont put the file extension (.jpg. or .pdf) then photoshop can't open the files.

Any suggestions?

Are you taliking about using the contact sheet for a print catalogue? If so, uncheck "use filemane as caption" and type in what you need when the contact sheet is created.

If you're talking about the web based photo galleries, PS won't let you use a space because http won't recognize spaces. The file extension is necessary also for http.

You can always put thumbnails into a web authoring app and type anything you want and make that text a link to a larger jepg or other.

In Bridge choose Photoshop, then Contact Sheet 2

I dont have to be able to click on names. All I want to do is have a contact sheet and name the thumbnails without saying the extension i.e. "Page 2." I could settle for "Page2" without the space.

Again, all you have to do is uncheck "use filemane as caption" in the Contact sheet dialogue window. Then add text below each pic to title each pic.

Once you've made the contact sheets you can Save As with a name you choose. The extension necesary but it's only on teh computer and does not show in print or when the sheet is placed in another app.

We have a misunderstanding on this issue. Im not refering to the filename extension when you save the contact sheet!

I am referring to the name on EACH of the many thumbnails the contact sheet creates. I.E. if I have a contact sheet that lists 50 thumbnails and 50 different parts, I want to name each thumbnail! (Not the page itself)

Read teh first answer and the second one too: "uncheck "use filemane as caption" and type in what you need when the contact sheet is created". That box is at the bottom of teh contact sheet 2 setup window.

That gives you NO caption for each pic on the sheet and you can type in a name for each individual pic.
