Dear Rayrose,
What version of Sidekick are you using and on what Operating system?

Dear rayrose,
Have you installed the SK98 Patch?
I haven't had a chance to check this out as I don't use the Contact Log in the way that you do, so I am going to have to create a CardFile and put some dummy data in it to see what happens.
If you haven't installed the Patch (see the FAQ pages of this Forum to find the download site) but be very careful how you install it.
It has come to my attention from a post in:
thread807-342384
that the best way to install the Patch is the way submitted by ElsaGarcia .
Try the Patch out first because SK98 had a problem with Reports based on Cardfile contact logs Regards Jim

This was my first visit to this site ? searched for as I had a problem with the report facility of the standard version of Sidekick98. I did not realise that there was a ?patch? for the 98 version. I have now downloaded it and applied it to my system. The report facility now works, as it should.
However if anyone knows how to translate the report output into a spreadsheet (Excel) I should like to know about it.
Dear rayrose,
The easiest way to send the output to Excel is to Extract on condition the cards that the report is based on and then save it under a new name, then File|Save as
the new cardfile as a tab delimited text .txt file and
THEN import it into Excel (from Excel).

It's not the cards that I wish to output to Excel but the report generated using the Report/contact Log facility. On the version that I am using (98 + 'patch')the Extract on condition is for cards only.
Dear Ray,
Sorry I didn't make myself clear.
There is no way to export from the Report to anything, not in Sidekick anyway.
Though a little investigation into the format of the report by opening it in Notepad seems to show that if you don't use word-wrap there is a possibility that the data could be got out, as it seems to be Tab-delimited text.
I can't say anymore for the moment, I will try to see if there is a procedure you could follow (e.g. maybe open in notepad and then Save As a text file and then do a find and replace for some of the odd characters, or use Word to extract the text)
The point I was making in my original post, was that all this could be done much easier by isolating the data by extracting it Tools|Extract|On Condition in Sidekick,
saving it as Tab-delimited and then importing into Excel then removing non-essential fields and filtering (if necessary), most of which (in Excel) could be done with a macro. Regards Jim
