Contact Record on non Server Edition IPO

Hi guys

Does any one yet any experience of working with the new Contact Recorder SW available on R9?

I am in the process of upgrading our in house kit and would love to be able to move another piece of SW away from the grips of Microsoft Windows.

I understand the ins and out around it having to be on a dedicated sever etc but can anyone give me a definitive yes or no to if it works on standalone IPO as we don't run server edition?

The below blurb from the KB suggests that Server Edition is required but I have also been told that it will run on standalone IPO

For IP Office Release 9.0, IP Office supports Contact Recorder for IP Office with Server Edition servers.

I will hopefully get around to trying this before the end of the week but I don't want to waste my time if others have tried without success.

Thanks!

You could try to install the IPO server edition and then turn off everything else.
I wonder if it is an option on the Appsserver but i think not although it is an app.
Try it and let us know :)

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

That's the method I was going to try.

Contact Recorder is not installed by default but it's an optional install once the App server is up and running. It does however need to run on a dedicated server much like ContactStore needs to be installed on a dedicated drive.

I am due a definitive answer from Avaya this morning so will let you all know.

So it shows up on an appserver?
Then you can use that for sure.
The only problem you will have is to share the VRL folder but that can be done if you know how.
When you login with ssh then you login as admin
Then you will have a configure menu with username configure and password Configure.
Then you will have an option there somewhere called sharing.
Follow that and you can enable the sharing for Contactstore which is the same thing.

There is no dedicated App Server anymore, it all comes on the Server Edition download.

You then enable or disable the bits you do or don't want.

I know but when you do the ignition then you can select the appserver stuff.
And then i wonder if the contact recorder is still there.

Yes, when you ignite the ISO as an Application Server the Contact Recorder is included in the components.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

*UPDATE*

Software has been installed on a server and I am able to browse and login to the software, create accounts etc.

I am however unable to link the voicemail pro server and the Contact Recorder together for the recordings. I have followed the knowledgebase guide exactly but am having no joy.

The error I am getting when testing the connection after putting the details into the VMPRO configuration under "Voicemail Recordings" is..
"Test to remote FTP server Failed. Error:FTP/SFTP client command Failed. Can not verify FTP/SFTP details."

Am I missing something? Does the Contact Recorder have a built in FTP software or do I need to put this onto the server in addition to the Avaya software?
Nothing is mentioned in the knowledgebase as far as I can see.

Any thoughts guys?

I have tried everything but still getting the same error message above. I have never tried this on a Windows machine with Contact Store either so I may be missing something obvious in the transfer process.

I understand that I am going into the unknown a bit here but any pointers would be appreciated.

The FTP/SFTP is a Linux VMPro option.
I did not try this so i am not sure if it is an option at all.
You will need to share the VRL folder.

Thanks!

Any pointers on how to create this share in a Linux environment?

You need to create the share on the Windows machine as that is where VMPro is.
But when it is a standard VMPro install then i suggest moving it to the apps server which should make it much easier.

There is no Windows machine involved.

Voicemail Pro sits in a Linux environment as does the Contact Recorder (different servers as suggested on Knowledgebase).

I will log a call with support to see what they suggest as my I can write Linux knowledge on the bag of a fag pack. I'm not 100% convinced this will work in the standalone IPO environment even though Avaya state is "should".

OK login on the vmpro server with the vmpro client and press f9.
Scroll through the tabs until you see the sftp stuff.

yep, done all that all filled in the relevant info.

That is when I get the error message I have detailed above.

I dont think you need seperate servers
if you log on to your apps server (The VM Pro one) & go to upgrades you should see contract recorder listed as uninstalled
clicking install should enable you to start it on the same server
(I only have this in a VM at present & have not had time to test yet)

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

This from the knowledgebase...

"Contact Recorder for IP Office must use a separate disk partition for file storage from that used by the Voicemail Pro. The easiest way to ensure this is to install each application on separate servers. The diagram below shows the typical operation.

That is when you have not enough disk space.
I would do as IPGuru says or move the current VMPro to the new server with CS on it.
But if you don't then you still need to set the (S)FTP part.

I am surprised you guys are suggesting installing both pieces of SW on the same server with only one partition.

I would never do this when using ContactStore due to the way the SW archives the recordings.

I will however do it as a test to see if I can get it working on a single server and then go from there.

You are right but to try it out i would do it.
If it works then use two systems for it.
