I have a customer with a partner II phone system. He bought the contact closure adjunct. WIll that work with the Partner II or will it only work with the ACS processor?

He tells me at his old office he used to dial extension 12 and that would unlock the door, doesn't see right to me.

any ideas, thanks!

The contact closure adjunct is strictly for the ACS.

Perhaps they rigged up an AC relay to Ext. 12, triggered by the ring voltage? Wheelock makes one that we use often. Viking makes door controllers as well.

hmm I don't know what he had at his old office. I suppose you cannot rely what you are told.

I do have a AT&T door phone controller from a Partner Plus system. Its pretty old. Is it worth using? It has 14 screw terminals on the back and has volume dial in the front and 8 dipswitches.

There is no doorphone.

I will check into the Wheelock relay. Ive used the Viking SRC unit, its perfect but $ is a factor.

you can use a common audible 3CO (Wheelock) which has a contact closure that gets activated when the extension rings and connect that to the door opener. It has actually 3 inputs but I think they don't produce the ones with one CO line input any more.

No, you need it to trigger from the 90VAC ringing voltage. Remember that there is also -48VDC on Tip/Ring when it is idle as well.

You could put a blocking capacitor in series to keep out the -48VDC, a bridge rectifier to change the ringing to 90VDC, and then drop the voltage with resistors.

ok, i did get the AT&T doorphone controller working, looks like a trunk to the system, staff press the line and dial open code (4 digits). only issue is that it calls the line everytime the strike is activated, can't get it to stop.

Then you might want to change the ringing status on that line port to NONE on every phone that line port appears. It will still flash, but at least there will be no audible.

yes i did that! thanks!!
