Hi there,

Any advice or tips on this would be most welcome - I've been scratching my head for ages...

Sometimes when booting windows XP pro I get to the welcome to windows page and then the computer restarts itself. This may happen 2, 3 or more times before I get into windows. However, sometimes it has no problems.

Anyway, I installed the windows tools and ran a disk check (CHKDSK) and it said the following:
-------------------------------------
Stage 3 of 3
Security descriptor verification completed
Correcting errors found in the volume bitmap
Windows found problems with the file system
run CHKDSK with the /F (fix) option to correct these.
-------------------------------------

So I do as it says with the /F switch.

Restart the machine and it checks the disk and finds no errors. So I go back into windows tools and Check disk again and the same problem occurs.

I'm thinking this may be why my computer doesn't always boot correctly.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Trebax

P.s I've run anti spywareto remove any bad stuff.
