Hi! Glad to be here, as this is my first post.

I've always had a particular problem with photo-paint 8, and I'm trying to find a solution. Whenever I have a subtle darkish blue that fades to black, it looks terrific in photo-paint, but when it's in photo shop or on the web, those subtle blues now go extremely unflattering. They turn much brighter....almost glowing. As an example, this is the piece I was hoping to be finished with today...

You can see at the bottom, the glowing blue tones, and even the colors at top aren't quite what they were. (It was saved on highest quality, btw). So, running out of ideas, I tried doing a full screen preview, and using corel capture to capture the image. I then opened the capture in photo shop, and the colors were right, but the color DEPTH was way down, and it looked horrible. Here's what it ended up looking like...

Code:

The colors at the bottom are what I want in this case, but the image looks terrible.

I don't know if I've given you enough information, so please let me know if you need more. Thanks in advance!

Forgot one thing... Yes, I DO have corel capture set to full color. Again, thanks for any help you can give.

What is your final output for these images? THe web? You may have to adjust your pallete to one of the "websafe" ones.

Also, just out of curiosity, you talk like you don't use Photo Paint very often. One of the things with Photo Paint is making sure that your screen is not rendering the colors to match your printer. I attempted this and got more of the color you sound like you are describing.
I have version 9, but the tools should be similar.
In Photopaint click Tools->Color Management->Calibrate colors for display. Be sure this is unchecked. It is trying to cause your monitor to display the colors as they will print on your printer. When you look at them, they appear darker, duller, and less vibrant. This is ok for printing, but when you attempt to view them as an elecronic document, once the leave the filters of Corel, their true vales are exposed for all the world to see.

Hope this helps.
