Constant messages "USB Device Not Recognized" 1

I've had this before when the mouse is failing. My cure was to replace the mouse.

I could not discover the fault in that (optical) mouse, it was either electronic, or perhaps mechanical strain on the cable/plug causing intermittent signal failure.

I have replace USB-optical mouse with new one and problem still appears.

Any other idea what could be wrong or how can I disable this messages from appearing?

Is this a laptop computer? The CD drive is also a USB device on most laptops.

I assume this problem shows whichever USB port the mouse is plugged into? What about in Safe Mode?

Have you made sure the machine is clean of viruses, Malware, Spyware, etc. Might be worthwhile running something like MalwareBytes to check it out...

If it's a laptop, how do other USB devices, like a printer or memory stick make it behave if you withdraw the mouse and just use the touchpad?

For a desktop, can you try a PS/2 connected mouse?

Might be worth uninstalled and then reinstalling the USB drivers.

Will it read USB pen drives? also have you tried a different USB port for the mouse (may be a motherboard issue, if driver are ok)

Never give up never give in.

There are no short cuts to anything worth doing :)

Have you had a look in the Device Manager for any errors with the USB devices?

Use Device Manager and uninstall the USB root hubs and devices that show on your machine now. Reboot and let XP rediscover them and see if that solves your problem.

I have found out that one of my three USB ports on notebook is not working at all. I can't connect mouse to it or any other USB device like USB key.

According to linney suggestion I started Device Manager and uninstalled USB hubs and all USB devices, reboot Windows and new drivers were automatically installed and USB port that was not working is working again and the best news, I don't get that annoying pop-up messages for more then one day which is record.

Problem solved. Thanks to you all for help.
