Constant Dr. Watson errors...

We have a problem with our arserver... VERY frequently it's crapping out with Dr. Watson (access denied) errors for arserver.exe. There appears to be plenty of memory available but it doesn't seem to be able to allocate it properly. We're running WinNT 4.0 (gasp) and I'm sure that doesn't help anything with memory management. We're planning to replace this server, but if at all possible I'd like to at least know WHY this is happening.
Has anyone else had issues like this? I think it may more of a problem with the OS than with arserver but it is odd that only arserver.exe has issues since we're running a number of other applications.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks,
