Hello,

every time we try to run a job on veritas it gives a loading for ages then the orange light flashes and says that it has worn media and needs cleaning the media.

Server: W2k
Backup-SW: Veritas Backup-Exec 8.0
and for testing nt-backup
firmware: L111
age of streamer: 1 Year
used about 15 times correct.
termination: active termination
ID: 3

After using a cleaning Tape the media will be recognised but if we put a job to it the same error happend again.

I tried it Using NT-Backup with same results.

Any idea how to get it run?
Thanx

Hi TKWL,

sounds like your backup tape has some kind of a problem. Ever tried to use a new tape on that drive?

Firmware is up to date but you might want to download HPs Library & Tape Tools which is good for testing your drive and media. Search for that on HPs website (it is free to download).

Hi TKWL,

It looks like your DDS3 drive has
a faulty drum. SteelBurner's suggestion to
download HP Library & Tape Tools is a way
to start diagnosing your problems.
When your drive has the amber lights flashing
and constantly asks for cleaning it has a high
RAW(read after write) errors and no amount of
cleaning or using new media will correct the problems.
The only solution to that is to have it repaired( needs
drum replacement), get a good refurbished drive or buy
a new one.
