I am making a ledger report in which i need to have consolidated totals e.g.

Date Particulars Debit Credit Balance
Opening Balance NIL
xxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 100.00 - 100.00
xxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 200.00 - 300.00
xxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx - 100.00 200.00
xxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 100.00 - 300.00
CLosing Balance 300.00

Now the problem i am facing is that i am not able to calculate the Balance Field. Please help me !!!!

There are several ways, but I would use a running total of a formula field.

First the formula would be:

{DR} - {CR}

I am assuming that both numbers are stored as positive. If the CR is stored negative you could use a plus sign here. The formula doesn't have to be visible.

Then insert a running total of this formula to get the balance. "Insert - Running Total". Ken Hamady
