Console interaction NBX v3000

I have taken over a 3Com NBX V3000.
I want to edit the configuration ready for use on our network.
I made a serial connection from the Console port to a serial port on my PC. When the V3000 boots I can see alsorts of configuration information on screen. When all activity is finished the system says system ready. I cannot type in any commands.

Get the info from the console port and then connect to it through your web browser. Do you have the IP and password to log in? If not try the default once you get the IP address of the NBX.

I have now resolved this one.
It turned out to be a faulty serial - console cable.
