Consideration for a future software update ...

Hopefully someone from EMT support might see this and consider this option for a future software release. It's a very simple request (at least the request is, I'm not sure about the programming to make it happen!:)). My users constantly grip to me that they aren't reminded to change their "away" greeting when they return to the office and log in for voice messages. The recording "there is a temporary greeting..." is indeed there, but it doesn't get played until the user goes into the greeting area of their mailbox. Would it be possible to have this recording played immediately after a user logs into their mailbox? I know the old Norstar NAMs and the Avaya Partner Messaging module played the greeting at the very beginning upon login, and it was helpful to remind the user to switch back to their unavailable greeting. Not a huge big deal, but it would be great if it were given some consideration. It would make my users happy at least! :)

Continue to love our system ... so glad we made the switch!

I am not part of EMT Support, but as a Stocking Distributor, I will be glad to submit this as a product enhancement.
Have a blessed day!

In addition to Mrdom's message above, would it be possible to add softkey prompts that correspond to the Voice Mail prompts similar to Norstar/BCM CallPilot? That might be way too time consuming to develop right now, but if for the phones that contain soft keys such as the M3900, T/M 7000 series and IP phones, this would definitely be an advantage over the Avaya IP Office. The Softkeys only work on the Avaya IP phones I believe when connected to IP Office......but I'll have to do some testing to see if they work on the T/M 7000 sets.....I'll get back with that information later.

Oh and to clarify, when the 1100/1200 IP sets are connected to the IP Office, they do not show soft key prompts when connected to voice mail. Imagine how much better of an advantage that would be when connected to the UCx.

I will also mention that Cisco Unity Voice Messaging doesn't show softkey prompts for voicemail either.

There is no need for a product enhancement - the functionality has been available since UCx 3.0.

To enable a notification when the temporary greeting is in effect upon login to voicemail, do this:
[ul]
[li]Go to PBX - PBX Configuration - Voicemail Settings - Settings[/li]
[li]Scroll all the way down, change the option "tempgreetwarn" to Yes and submit the configuration change[/li]
[li]Apply the changes[/li]
[/ul]

Hi ucxguy - Thanks for your note. I know that the option is available, but what I was asking for was to have it played in a different part of the mailbox. Right now, the warning won't play until the user goes into their voice mailbox and selects the greeting area of the mailbox. I'd like that greeting to play as soon as a user logs on to the mailbox to remind them to change the temporary greeting. It's not overly helpful to have it in the greeting area because if the user forgets to change their greeting, they won't be reminded to do so until they go into the greeting section of the mailbox, which, if they're not reminded earlier, they won't do. :) Thus the reason for my request.

With that option enabled, a prompt that a temporary greeting is in effect plays right after the user logs in.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm ... it doesn't work for me. I just tried putting a temporary greeting on, and the system won't alert me to it until I press 0 to go into mailbox options. There was no indication at login. I did check the option in the UCx, and the option is enabled per your earlier post.

Perhaps a gremlin that's only affecting us?!? Thanks for the continued help!

Did you press Submit on the Voicemail Settings - Settings page?

Yep - it was actually already enabled. But I unchecked, rechecked and submitted again and still the same results.

I assume your UCx system is up-to-date. If not, first update the software.

You can use PBX - Tools - Configuration File Editor to open the file vm_general.inc - you should see the line "tempgreetwarn=yes" in there. The file on my system contains the following lines:
...
searchcontexts=no
sendvoicemail=yes
tempgreetwarn=yes
usedirectory=yes
...

If the line is present in the configuration file, login to mailbox with a temporary greeting enabled and then check the asterisk/full log file (under Support - System Log Files). When I login to my mailbox while the temporary greeting is on, I get the following prompts played:
....
-- Executing [*97@from-internal:107] VoiceMailMain("UCX/221@221-0", "221@default") in new stack
-- <UCX/221@221-0> Playing 'vm-password.slin' (language 'en')
-- <UCX/221@221-0> Playing 'vm-tempgreetactive.slin' (language 'en')
-- <UCX/221@221-0> Playing 'vm-youhave.slin' (language 'en')
-- <UCX/221@221-0> Playing 'vm-no.slin' (language 'en')
-- <UCX/221@221-0> Playing 'vm-messages.slin' (language 'en')
...
As you can see, the temporary greeting prompt is played right after the password is entered.

Here's what I get when I log in:

The tmpexists.slin plays only when I press 0 to get into mailbox options. Not sure why it doesn't work like yours! I am up-to-date on all software updates. Can I modify when that file plays manually?

Did you look at the configuration file vm_general.inc? Maybe you should contact E-MetroTel support - they should be able to help you with this issue.
