I'm trying to import a large text file into an Acces DB. Everything is seperated with a single space, expect on occasion when one of the fields can have 1 or 2 characters instead of the normal 3. This throws off the columns. Excel has a feature to "Treat consecutive delimiters as one". Is there such a feature or plugin for Access? I'd import the data into Excel except it's too big for the workbooks.

If this isn't possible in Access, does anyone have recommendations?

Thanks!

Can you open the text file in Word and then search and replace to make the "records" more consistent?

I know of no direct 'feature' in Ms. A., however RegExp could easily accomplish the change.

MichaelRed: Any idea what reghack would take care of this?

Thanks

Sorry MichaelRed, not RegHack, but RegExp. What is it and where can I get it?

Thanks

Search google for "Regular Expressions".
