Connector glue

I'd like to be able to glue a connector to any point on a shape. It seems that Tools|Snap&Glue|Shape Geometry ought to allow this, as Help says "You can choose to glue connectors to shape handles, vertices, and ANY POINT ON THE VISIBLE EDGE OF A SHAPE (shape geometry)" but that menu option doesnt give the desired result. What am I missing?

Were you able to add a connection point to the shape? Select the shape, then select the Connection Point Tool from the standard toolbar. While holding down the Ctrl key, left click on the edge of the shape where you want to place the connection point. Once you have placed a connection point on the shape, you should be able to attach a connector.
