Hi - I'm trying to determine if I have a firewall issue or an app issue, neither of which I have direct control over, only the headache the problem is causing.

I'd like to test tcp connectivity from an AIX 5.3 box to a Windows XP box. My problem is the router ACL is allegedly set to allow traffic between the two on only certain ports and I don't think this is the case. What AIX command can I use to test the connection going from a given port (10002) to a given destination IP:port (10.1.2.3:5400)?

Any help is appreciated,
Dan

You can use the iptrace and ipreport commands. Look at the man pages to determine usage. I use these all the time to debug network related issues.

Thanks Jim,
These are extremely handy and get me more than half way to where I want to be. All I need now is to write/find a little something that lets me send packets from a specific source port. I'm open to anything anyone's already written :)

I appreciate your help.
