Connectivity Problem

I am using ODBC to connect to a server located in a different state from me on windows NT. For some reason I am having connection problems. Most of the time the component that uses ODBC (Visual Basic) cannot connect. I get the ODBC error, check your documentation. I know what that error means. When I am able to connect, I periodically and sporadically lose the connection throughout the component. People that use the server locally, do not have this problem. I also know that wins is used.

Any suggestions as to why this is happening and how to fix it?

I'm sure you figured this out by now...but if not try using the IP Address instead of the alias/name

if you want to use the name, create entries in host and lmhosts files for the ip address and name.

I have tried the ip address, the alias/nameand get the same problem.

Any other solutions?
