Hi,

I have a SQL Server install on a Win2K active directory DC. while connection from the DC to itself works like a charm. connection from another domain member server (Win2K)failed.

i test the connection with a UDL file.
The Error shows "Test Connection Failed becos of an error in initializing provider. [DBMNPNTW] specified SQL server not found"

Is the another for me to connect to this server?

Please enlighten me.... very urgently...

Can you telnet from the remote machine to port 1433 (SQL Port) on the server?

Check your event log and ERRORLOG to see if there's anything in there.

Hi Denny,

Just for a Background, IIS Server is a Dell pre-installed SP4 Win2k configure as IIS ASP to make use of the SQL.

Based on e statment u made, i tried to connect to the server from my workstation with Enterprise Manager Installed, i was able to make connection using the UDL file and then i struck me to install the connective tools on the IIS Server and it works. It seems that the Win2K SP4 preinstall has some missing compoments to connect to SQL server. Anyway it solve my problem. Thanks to your statement and of cos my dumb luck....
