When I click on my server node in enterprise manager I get a message saying the server either does not exist or it is not know to be running. After I click on 'yes' to continue the following message appears:
A connection could not be established to ERP/ERP.
Reason: SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
ConnectionOpen (Connect())..
Please verify SQL Server is running and check your SQL Server Registration properties...

I have the services all starting up with a domain admin account (just to be sure I tried 'local' too). In the registration I have tried both Windows and SQL Server authentication.

I can access the db and view tables using Query Analyzer (login using SQL Server auth.).

What could cause not being able to access the server in Enterprise Manager?

Thanks!

I'm not sure what the problem is but have you tried deleting the server registration (right click on the server node) and adding it again? JHall

Hi JHall,

Thanks a bunch! That worked! I thought there might be adverse effects to deleting the registration and adding it back. It just sounded like I'd be deleting everything. Is this something that can re-occur? I guess I'm just curious if this is a sign of something else happening.
Thanks again!!!

Sounds like you need to service pack your client tools. Check it out at the Microsoft website. JHall
