Urgent help needed

Originally my reports were created on a PC that MSSQL
client installed on it. The link to the datasource was done using.
"More data sources", "Microsoft SQl server".

However I will soon have users that will need to run the reports on there
PC's and it will not be possible for them to have SQL client installed on
there PC's.

What i tried to do was create an ODBC connection. Then using that I used the set location option. However when I ran the report I got the follwoing messages :

"Propergate server and database changes accross tables with the same
original information."

The when i run the report i get the same even if i select yes or no

The library "" cannot be found. Please check your installation.

Cannot open database

Any advice to try would be great

Have you tried to create an executable version of your report, if I under stand correctly you are using Crystal Reports. In the past whilst I was using Crystal Reports Version 6 It was possible to create an executable version of the report which includes the runtimes necessary to use the report on any PC connecting to your database server.

So in practice all you needed was the crystal report in its executable format (.exe)copied to the PC it is to be used from. You will probably have to setup a User ODBC Connection on the PC which mirrors the one used in its original location.

Hope this makes sense.

Crystal 8 does not permit an executable version being created.

I am not an SQL expert, but I thought you would need the client with ODBC, also.

Anyway, you have to first convert the driver to pdsodbc (p2sodbc) to use ODBC connections. You also have to be using CR Professional or developer.

The EXE won't help you, but if you want to use compiled reports in V8, see the FAQ on compiled reports. Ken Hamady
