hi

I've a main report with sales order lines and a subreport with purchase order lines.
An one to n relation is hereby possible. That means for one sales order line can be two or more purchase order lines. Because other complexity in the report I need the main/subreport construction.
In the main report/sub report connection window it is not possible to use the principle of a ‘left outer join’,
Have anyone an idée how to handle this issue?

Dan

Subreports behave like tables that have been left outer joined to the main report table--so I'm wondering what issue you are running into?

I have always considered sub-reports as seperate entities (sp?). Fortunately, I am able to pass parameter information to a sub-report.

hi LB/kray

some more research of my side: the report uses fields with different datatypes. Always nice, a starters issue ;-)

But Kray, what do you mean with ' to pass parameter information'?

You still have not explained what the problem is that you are encountering.

Hi LB

In thread “subreport vs union, thread766-1591947” you’ve explain me how I can get group info and detail info at the same line between a main- and subreport. This works for a big part of that issue, the totals are on the same line and the detail info is printed under the group. But I can’t get the line numbers at the same line.
The situation in that thread is a little bit changed.
In the purchase order there are two fields added: salesorder nr (so nr) and so linenumber (linenum). The goal is that the report will shown which expenses are made for each sales order line level. So it is also possible that for one sales items two or more po orders exist. The employee fill in the so nr and so linenum by booking the po line.

Main report: Sales Order..Subreport: Purchase Order
SOnr..SO-Line..total......POnr.PO-Line.SO-nr..SO-Line..Total
S123....1.......1000......P567....1....S123......1.......200
..............................P568....1....S123......1.......400
........2........500......P567....3....S123......2.......300

Originally, you didn't want one to one alignment with the subreport, you wanted all of the subreport to display together. Since your requirements have changed, I think you need to insert a group on so Line number, link the subreport based on so line number, and place the sub in the new group header.
