I am attempting to set up Analysis Services for SQL Server 2000.

When I click on "Analysis Servers" in in "Analysis Manager", I receive the following error message:

"Unable to connect to Registry on server (Main), or you are not a memeber of the OLAP administrators group on this server"

Operating System : Win XP Professional
Database: MS SQL Server 2000; SP3

What have I done wrong? My machine is a stand-alone PC.

Thank you very much for all help.

Make sure the account you are logged in under is a member of the Olap Administrators group.

Same issue BUT OlAP Admin account is in place. What area should I look at for the first portion of the error that states ... "Unable to connect to Registry on server" ???

Thanks

Jay,
it is running the most recent service pack?

I beat your post by a hair - lol. That was the case. The developer told me he had installed it, but once I VNCed to his machine and checked, I found that was not the case! Installed the SP and all is fine in MudVille ... for now!!!

Thanks

Thank for your posts.

The work around steps that we tried was:
-installing SP3 for SQL Server
- Analysis Services still did not work
-uninstalling Analysis Services
-reinstalling Analysis Services
- it works !!! :)

Marlene,

There is a seperate service pack that needs to be ran for Analysis Services. Running the Service Pack for Sql2K will not apply the service pack for Analysis Services (Unless they changed it in 3A which I haven't installed).
