Connection to remote SQL Server

Identical problem as the above thread number, but don't see a solution.
My connection problem is when I attempt to run a report in BO Enterprise and InfoView I get error msg, "Failed to open the connection." The server I'm attempting to connect to is remote a SQL Server.
Now, I can connect and run the report successfully through Cystal Reports and I can connect successfully through MS Visual Studio view table data.

Hi,
Be sure the ODBC config is identical on both the CR machine and the BO server and that the user/password for the database is the same.
Also you need to be sure that the account that the BO servers ( reportserver especially) use have permission to access the SQL Server location and database.
