connection to DCC4

After some advice i have connected to my DCC8 OK via a dial up analogue modem.
I cannot connect to My system via analogue modem to a DCC4
Using SMPC 5

some more infomation
To connect to DCC8 i use CM@net connection manager this seems to work OK
to connect to DCC4 if have tried the CM datadase connection configrator Ver 3.3.8 but cannot connect.
what am i doing wrong

It depends on the software package in the dcc4
up to 4314xxxx straight v24 4324xxxx ppp.
