Connection to apachy / mysql

Dear PHP users,

We want to make, with a PHP file, a connection to apachy / mysql to show the contents of a table. Also we want to change the content.
Can someone give us a example source how to do that?
The apachy server is a local one.

If you just want database management system then try using phpMyAdmin:

Its easy to install and use
